I just read an interesting interview in the current Poets & Writers magazine. Naomi Jackson’s debut novel, The Star Side of Bird Hill, was released this month. In a short interview, she says:
And while I always had a strong Christian faith, I was suspicious of using religion to marginalize people or to deny aspects of myself. I chose to stick with the ‘tell the truth’ message I’d learned in church and cast aside the “don’t tell truths that bring shame on your family” part of my upbringing
That’s what I’m about.
(Composed and posted from my phone. Gosh, that was painful! 🙂 )
