A Bit of Culture in NorCal

06 Sep

Last night Patsy and I went to an art show at the Orland Art Center in Orland, California. On display were pieces by two artists, Stefan Baumann, an oil painter, and crafted furniture by Richard Lea.

Richard Lea is an accountant and accounting teacher-turned-master craftsman. The furniture was absolutely beautiful and finely crafted.

You might have seen Stefan Baumann on television. He has hosted a PBS program called The Grand View, about painting in several National Parks. The KIXE website tells us

In each episode, he applies the realist theory of the old masters in his environmentally inspired paintings. Baumann’s treks encompass every aspect of the park, focusing on the plants, wildlife and the geologic and human history that have impacted the region.

I especially enjoyed Stephan’s themed pieces covering Dall’s Sheep and Anasazi dwellings.
